I write on a number of topics, usually it depends on what comes into my head on any given day, so it could be a travel story, memoirs from my life, something from the daily news, or even a poem inspired by something.

  One area that I never imagined we would see at Kennedy Space Center is the construction of modules to be transported up to the International Space Station, or ISS as it is known.

  The photograph as usual doesn’t do the sky justice, but when I got up to let the dog out, there was this wonderful rich glow in the sky.

  Jennifer Thompson, the highly paid call girl who had an affair with England soccer star Wayne Rooney, has admitted having sex with no less than 13 players from the Soccer Premiership, 2 of whom were married men.
• Cape Canaveral : Kennedy Space Center XV : The Space Shuttle Experience

  We are nearing the end of our tour of Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and one static exhibit to not be missed is a replica of a Space Shuttle that you can look inside. Also, a great new ride, which simulates a Space Shuttle launch.
• Robert Pattinson Heads on a Road Trip : Could He Be Off to See Kristen Stewart?

  Having spent a night with some friends in Los Angeles last Friday, Robert Pattinson, (aka Edward Cullen from Twilight) took off on a road trip, and nobody knows where he is headed. Could he be off to see Kristen Stewart?

• Walking From Swanwick To Warsash IV

  Having waved goodbye to the donkeys (see part III of our walk), we continue on the path that leads along the Hamble River from Swanwick to Warsash.

• Walking From Swanwick To Warsash VI

  Having reached Warsash, we stopped for a drink in The Rising Sun pub, then looked at the memorial plaques for the Commandos who left here on 5th June 1944 on their epic journey to the Normandy Beaches.
• Walking From Swanwick To Warsash VII

  On our walk back to Swanwick from Warsash the tide has come in, and the view of the salt marshes and boats is quite different as you will see. Also several more houses to make you drool.
• The Lone Swan

  This lone Swan came swimming up to us shortly before the end of our walk along the Hamble River from Swanwick to Warsash. I think he just wanted to get his photograph taken.

I love to travel and I also love to take photographs of places that I have been to.

Not only do these photographs act as great memories for me, once in a while I manage to take what I think is a real gem, and it’s nice to have a great site like Red Bubble where I can share some of my works with the rest of the world.

The cemetery was created in 1843 with the first burial taking place in 1846, and over the years it has been extended and is comprised of various parts with a number of chapels.    

The cemetery covers a total of 27 acres and over 116,000 burials took place there between the years of 1846 and 2005. 

The cemetery is in some ways a historical record of the City Of Southampton, having a number of graves associated with the Titanic, which sailed from Southampton and many of the crew came from there.  There are also a number of graves related to other maritime incidents, as well as graves related to the  Battle of Waterloo, Charge of the Light Brigade, the Indian Mutiny and the Boer War.

Sadly the cemetery is rarely used these days for burials, and much of it has not been looked after for some years.  Although parts have been looked after and restored by the Friends Of Southampton Old Cemetery, much of the cemetery is currently in a sad state, as the photographs in the linked slide documents show.

These photographs were taken in the summer of 2009 and show the poor status of some of the gravestones in parts of the cemetery.  Although in a sad state, the cemetery does provide a good opportunity for the photographer to capture rare images of gravestones and memorials that have seen better days.
