Summer Is My Favourite Time Of Year

When I look back at my life, it’s easy to see why I readily admit that Summer is my favourite time of year.

I grew up at the seaside, just outside of Bournemouth on the south coast of England, in a small village called Lilliput, right on the edge of Sandbanks, which is now one of the most expensive places to live in the world.

There we had a beach hut, and since my Mum didn’t work, up to the age of 15 I spent every fine day of the summer months at the beach.

Years later I spent some time in New Zealand, where I learned to Scuba Dive, and also spent a lot of time in the ocean, either diving, snorkeling or just enjoying the beach.

For 12 years I traveled extensively in the Caribbean for work, where I had the opportunity to snorkel and dive again, and more recently I spent 3 years living in South Florida, where of course the beach and ocean are right there close at hand.

It’s not just the beach life that I love of course, it’s the ability to be outside much of the time without freezing to death.

Florida in particular gave me the opportunity to take up walking, and to work out get fit for once in my life.

I never felt better than I did during my last 2 years in Florida, but sadly since returning to the UK the often inclement weather has limited my ability to go out and exercise as much as I would like.

So naturally I am excited about flying back to Florida tomorrow for two weeks, and look forward to enjoying some sunshine and heat, even if summer in Florida does mean frequent thunderstorms and high humidity.

Bournemouth – Victorian Seaside Town On The South Coast Of England

Bournemouth is one of the finest seaside towns on the south coast of England, and it has a lot to offer the tourist at any time of the year.

Apart from the miles of beaches that are comprised of fine golden sand, which have a backdrop of sandstone cliffs, Bournemouth has a number of theatres, two piers, lots of public gardens and other places to take scenic walks, and plenty of nightlife too.

Bournemouth is close to historic Christchurch, with it’s ancient priory church, as well as to the New Forest, Poole, and the millionaire’s paradise of Sandbanks.

So come find out more about Bournemouth HERE on this award winning lens (Lens Of The Day + Purple Star) from Squidoo.

Come To Bournemouth Before The Summer Ends

The south of England has seen some exceptional weather this summer, and like most seaside resorts, Bournemouth has been really busy with tourists and day-trippers wanting to go to some of the best beaches on the South Coast.

Last weekend was completely miserable, with low cloud and almost constant drizzle, but it still didn’t stop over 250,000 people turning out for the four day Bournemouth Air Show, even though some of the aerial festivities had to be cancelled, including the only flying Vulcan bomber.

But there is still a lot of summer left hopefully, and this coming weekend is August Bank Holiday, the perfect time to take off for the South Coast and to spend a few days at the seaside.

If you are thinking of visiting Bournemouth and you haven’t found anywhere to stay yet, HERE are some of the best hotels in the area, and some more visitor information to help you out.

If you can’t find a place to stay there that suits your needs, try Hotels.com which includes all the hotels and guest houses in the Bournemouth area.

Bournemouth has so much to offer the tourist, and it’s far more than just beaches.

Just a couple of miles to the west you have the millionaires paradise of Sandbanks, then the historic town of Poole with it’s harbour and Brownsea Island, home of the first ever Boy Scout camp.

Further west you have the beautiful Purbeck Hills, with the seaside town of Swanage, the majectic ruins of Corfe Castle, and of course the Tank Museum at Bovington, which houses the largest display of tanks in the world.

In 15 minutes travelling east from Bournemouth, you come to the historic market town of Christchurch, with it’s ancient priory church, old buildings, and scenic walks along the river.

Christchurch is right on the edge of The New Forest, a national park that was set up 1,000 years ago by William The Conqueror, and where horses, cattle and deer roam free.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when discussing things to do and places to visit in the Bournemouth area of Dorset.

Come visit soon, and be prepared for a wonderful time in this historic and beautiful part of Southern England.
