Article Summary 28th June 2010

This is a list of articles that I have written on Associated Content in the last week, I hope you will take a look at them and also enjoy them.

I write on a number of topics, usually it depends on what comes into my head on any given day, so it could be a travel story, memoirs from my life, something from the daily news, or even a poem inspired by something.

This is what I have published in the last week, enjoy:

  • Trengwainton Garden Cornwall III
The third part of the virtual tour of Trengwainton Garden near Penzance in Cornwall shows the big house, and views across the lawn to Mounts Bay.
  • The Laki Volcano in Iceland has caused chaos in Europe and North America before. In 1783 it erupted, killing people throughout North America and Europe and creating the coldest winter on record.
  • First Lucy, now Kadanuumuu + photos. The discovery of a 3.6 million year old partial skeleton in Ethiopia may change what scientists believe about early man and his ability to walk upright.
  • The fourth and final part of our virtual tour of Trengwainton Garden in Cornwall, takes us through some more shrub filled areas, and the walled kitchen garden.
  • Yesterday evening was one of those where you just end up working until bedtime. Moving a desk was a bit of a struggle – rather like “Right Said Fred”
  • This week on Offbeat News, a rapper plagues police, desert yachting in Australia, a millionaire chihuahua in Miami, and a kitten survives a 90 mile drive in the engine compartment.
  • Mevagissey is a working harbour in Cornwall, a few miles south of St. Austell, and the harbour is built on a Medieval Quay.
  • This is a Haiku (Japanese Poetry Form) that honors the color Purple, in celebration of the acquisition of Associated Content by Yahoo.
  • Agggghhhh not another typo in an article that I can’t edit! This is a poem inspired by the art of making typing mistakes and not spotting them until after an article has been published.
  • The small fishing village of Mevagissey on the south coast of Cornwall is a typical example of a Cornish fishing port, with it’s stone walled harbour and narrow town streets.
  • When a French air traffic controllers strike caused a full plane to wait by the gate for six hours, and passengers were refused both food and drink, the temperature began to rise.
  • The Eden Project is an Educational Charity based in Cornwall that helps remind people of our connection to the natural world and our dependence on it. The Eden Project has the largest greenhouse in the world.

  • A Carvery is a very British thing and probably one of the best ways to experience a traditional British Sunday Roast, unless you are fortunate enough to be invited to Sunday Lunch at someone’s home.

Typos Typos Everywhere

When I published my poem Typos Typos Everywhere, which is about typos, I little thought that I would get a lot of traffic from it.

My traffic hopes for Friday were therefore based on a news article about passengers stranded on a plane in Scotland, but when I just looked, this had only 51 page veiws! Drat!

However, I did get almost 900 page views for my poem on Friday, but I haven’t got a clue where from.

It wasn’t Stumbleupon, could be via RSS Feeds though, or just because people are searching for the title, which I decided upon because I thought it was a catchy title.

It seems “Typos Typos Everywhere” is some sort of Sci-Fi short movie. Go figure…

So with my article being number one on Yahoo (thanks Yahoo) and on the 1st page on Google and Bing, I assume it’s searches that are getting the traffic for me.

Sometimes, those page views come in for the most unlikely reasons.
