Publishing Activity 10th January 2011

The number of published articles might be lower in the coming weeks, since Debbie was found to have a large tumor in her brain on Friday and is now in hospital awaiting surgery.  As a result my time for writing will be severely limited for a while.  Hopefully you will continue to visit and support us through this trying time.   Thanks.  Tony.

This is the status of articles that I have published recently on various sites.

I write on a number of topics, usually it depends on what comes into my head on any given day, so it could be a travel story, memoirs from my life, something from the daily news, or even a poem inspired by something.

I hope you will take a look at them and also enjoy them.

  • In this edition of News From A Weird World, the Enterprise loses it’s captain, Taiwanese potty trained pigs, Cambodian snake wedding, Florida mad cow victims, Florida body snatchers and more.
  • The off screen romance between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart must be serious as Robert Pattinson flies cross-country to join her at the People’s Choice Awards for an hour. Also pictures of the couple on New Year’s Eve on the Isle Of Wight

Article Summary 30th August 2010

This is a list of articles that I have written on Associated Content in the last week, I hope you will take a look at them and also enjoy them.

I write on a number of topics, usually it depends on what comes into my head on any given day, so it could be a travel story, memoirs from my life, something from the daily news, or even a poem inspired by something.

This is what I have published in the last week, enjoy:

  • When the drink driving restrictions were brought into the UK in the 1960′s, it changed the eating and drinking habits of much of the population.
  • There must be 20 or more Blue Tits that come to visit the bird feeders in our garden every day. These are just a few of them, enjoying stocking up on peanuts.
  • Whether it’s a headline in a tabloid newspaper or the subject of an article or web page, a catchy headline can often make you wonder just what the article is about. So what is this article about you might wonder?
  • For anyone interested in the exploration of Space, the Space Shuttle program or the International Space Station, a visit to the Kennedy Space Center is something that is literally out of this world.
  • This weeks edition of Offbeat News has some really weird stories, including a woman with a mortal fear of bananas, a boy with his head stuck in a toilet seat, a wizard brand of condoms, and a swarm of bees surrounding a police car.
  • Welcome aboard our tour of the Rocket Garden at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These are some photographs of rockets from the late 1950′s and early 1960′s, the Mercury and Gemini programs.
  • Why are there so many strange bird names I wonder. I can understand the Blackbird being called as it is, because it’s a Black Bird, but why is a Robin a Robin for example.
  • This is a poem about the wonderful fall colors, the orange, red, yellow and gold hues that the Maple leaves turn in the Midwest USA as Summer comes to an end.
  • One of the most interesting parts of the Rocket Garden was the various plaques that showed the development of new technologies in engines, launch pads etc, throughout the 1960′s and up to the first Moon Landing.
  • This is an entry for Karen’s Writing Challenge: Judy’s head had become cluttered and so she left her office and headed off to the local park
  • The Rocket Garden at the Kennedy Space Center has some really unique items from the Apollo program, like an Apollo Capsule, Service Arm and White Room.
  • The visitor center at Kennedy Space Center has some maps that show the layout of Cape Canaveral, the buildings, launch pads, and landing zone etc. There is so much more there than you would have imagined.
  • In this part of the tour of Kennedy Space Center we take a tour of the launch pads, and see some of the lesser known pads used to launch unmanned missions, and also the launch viewing area.

Article Summary 9th August 2010

This is a list of articles that I have written on Associated Content in the last week, I hope you will take a look at them and also enjoy them.

I write on a number of topics, usually it depends on what comes into my head on any given day, so it could be a travel story, memoirs from my life, something from the daily news, or even a poem inspired by something.

This is what I have published in the last week, enjoy:

  • While Chelsea Clinton’s wedding ceremony was an immensely lavish event, is it right for a member of the US Government to be seen splashing out this kind of money when the US Economy is struggling.
  • In part II of our walk along the River Hamble in Hampshire from Swanwick to Warsash, we see some houseboats and the salt marshes at low tide.
  • When a soldier’s Rosary beads fell on the ground he saw that he was standing on a land mine and that saved his life. His grandfather’s life was also miraculously saved by Rosary beads in World War II.
  • This is an independent look at what the celebrity gossip press has been reporting in the USA over the last week, as seen from a British Point Of View, featuring Lindsay Lohan off to Rehab, Jessica Alba returning home, and Britney Spears going braless.
  • In part III of our walk along the Hamble River from Swanwick to Warsash, we came across this field of really cute Donkeys.
  • This week on Offbeat News, a 12 year old girl fights off an intruder, a giant wasp nest in a pub, flying without make-up, swimming with ducks, a lawnmower race cut short, a Miss Chubby contest, and WWJD prevents store robbery.
  • Having waved goodbye to the donkeys (see part III of our walk), we continue on the path that leads along the Hamble River from Swanwick to Warsash.
  • The National Archives have released wartime documents that show Winston Churchill was involved in keeping UFO sightings secret to prevent mass panic.
  • As we approach the village of Warsash, we pass some big houses, and see visitors in one of the gardens. We also find unusual pink ferry boats.
  • Emma Watson best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies has adopted a short sixties style hairstyle giving her a stunning Mia Farrow look (link to pictures).
  • Having reached Warsash, we stopped for a drink in The Rising Sun pub, then looked at the memorial plaques for the Commandos who left here on 5th June 1944 on their epic journey to the Normandy Beaches.
  • On our walk back to Swanwick from Warsash the tide has come in, and the view of the salt marshes and boats is quite different as you will see. Also several more houses to make you drool.
  • This lone Swan came swimming up to us shortly before the end of our walk along the Hamble River from Swanwick to Warsash. I think he just wanted to get his photograph taken.

All New Updated Offbeat News

Good News for all you fans of my Offbeat News series of articles.

I updated my Squidoo lens on Offbeat News to include the latest issues from the 21st July and the 28th July, so now you can see what weird and wonderful news stories are in each weekly issue, by going to the Squidoo lens on Offbeat News.

If  you enjoy my Offbeat News articles and love to read about the weird things that have been going on around the world, please can you help to make these more popular by visiting my Squidoo lens on Offbeat News and sharing it with your friends on Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon, Digg and other social networking sites that you use, or just email the link to family and friends.

I love digging up these weird and wonderful stories from the world press, and although the articles are proving to be very  popular with a small audience, it’s only a small audience unfortunately.   If you can help to make these articles popular on a larger scale, that would help me to keep the series going in the longer term, because each issue does take quite a time to put together.

If you could help me in making this series a big hit, I would be really grateful.

Please don’t forget to leave any feedback here on what you think about Offbeat News, whether you enjoy it or not, and how you think it might be improved.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Article Summary 26th July 2010

This is a list of articles that I have written on Associated Content in the last week, I hope you will take a look at them and also enjoy them.

I write on a number of topics, usually it depends on what comes into my head on any given day, so it could be a travel story, memoirs from my life, something from the daily news, or even a poem inspired by something.

This is what I have published in the last week, enjoy:

  • New photographs show that an alarming amount of ice has been lost from the Himalayan Mountains compared with the same view photographed in 1921.
  • The daily news site Fortitude which opened in June has increased the number of articles to be published on the Front Page and boosted payments as part of a new membership drive.
  • We all receive emails daily from people with millions to give away, from a dead relative or secreted away from a foreign government. If only these were real, but amazingly enough people still fall for the 419 scams.
  • The more you read about Mel Gibson’s crazed rantings at girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, new revelations that she agreed to a $15 million deal to keep the tapes secret, and then his plans to return to Australia with his ex-wife. It makes you wonder…
  • Worth Matravers is a small village in the Purbeck Hills in Dorset, between the towns of Swanage, Corfe Castle and the village of Kingston. The houses are built of local Purbeck Stone, and it’s very picturesque.
  • This edition of Offbeat News includes a man arrested for having sex with Christie Brinkley, dummies left guarding a jail, the return of the Seinfeld Soup Nazi, Air Crew robbing passengers, and the Ambassador who left his wife but took their 40 cats.
  • The second part of our walk around the village of Worth Matravers shows the architecture in the village, and the unique way that people have used some of the local fossils.
  • It seems that “Little Girl Lost” Lindsay Lohan’s jail sentence of 90 days has now been cut to just 9 days. Is this ridiculous or what? Get the lowdown on that has been happening with Lindsay Lohan and see her in her orange jumpsuit.
  • If claims that he was violent to his girlfriend prove to be true, Mel Gibson’s career in the movie industry could be over. Or could it? What will Mel Gibson do next? Learn who is supporting him.
  • The village of Corfe Castle in Dorset, on the south coast of England, guards one of only two gaps in the Purbeck Hills, allowing access to the north. The castle was destroyed during the English Civil War in the 17th Century.
  • A transvestite has sex with a dog in an English castle, much to the surprise of the dog’s owner who found them. Strange people abound in the news these days. Come inside for the full story.
  • The seaside town of Southsea is next to Portsmouth in Hampshire on the south coast of England. Southsea beach is mostly gravel, with sand exposed at low tide. It has two piers, both with amusement arcades, and also a funfair.
  • On the second part of our tour of the seaside town of Southsea in Hampshire, we look at the shore from the South Pier, and the South Pier from the shore.
  • In part 3 of our tour of Southsea, we take a walk along the promenade, take in a bit of history, and meet a surprising visitor.
