X Is For Xylophone

Almost the only time that you get to see a Xylophone today is as a children’s toy, but these are really a fun instrument to watch someone play. Originating in Africa as the Marimba, it’s a popular instrument in Central America, in particular Guatemala.

W Is For Wedding

Spring time is the perfect time to get married, and in two days time the world (or at least the women of the world) will no doubt be glued to the television to see the spectacle that is the Royal Wedding take place in London.

V Is For Vampire Woman

When asked to think of “Vampire Women” many people have mental images of a sensual temptress with long flowing locks and an even longer flowing nightgown, showing off a hint of cleavage, and a look on her face that few men can resist. Not all Vampire Women fit this stereotype image though.

U Is For Upside The Head

Why not hit someone on the side of the head? The word upside is usually used with the word down. It shouldn’t be the opposite of the word downside, at least when it’s referring to hitting someone on the upper part of their head at least.

For some reason I was thinking of what to write for the Letter R, and the word Reverse came to me, and with it the memory of my Dad telling me many years ago about when he learned to drive, which was either just before the Second World War or during it.

Q Is For Queue

Forming a queue, whether it’s when waiting for a bus or a train, waiting for a shop to open, or at the cash register in a store, well it’s something that most British people were brought up to do, although sadly these days not everyone respects this great British tradition.

P Is For Payne

Growing up many (too many) years ago, even though Payne is a common surname in the UK, and 99% of the Paynes have it spelled this way, few people ever got it right. It was not only frustrating to find that every time someone wrote your name down it was P-A-I-N-E, it was the fact that it sounded the same as P-A-I-N that really wound me up.

Oh Dear My Muse Has Left Me

It’s something that all writers have to face sooner or later, that day when they wake up and try to write an article, but no topic comes to them, and the words refuse to flow. It’s called Writers Block, or in other words My Muse Has Left Me.
